THS Gauntlet of Solar Winds was a Century-class light cruiser in the Navy of Palaven and Citadel Defense Fleet. The one hundred and thirty-third ship of its class to be built, the Gauntlet of Solar Winds was originally assigned to the Twelfth Fleet under Prefect Septimus Oraka. The Gauntlet of Solar Winds served with the Twelfth Fleet for nearly the entirety of its lifespan, and would be present during the First Contact War, where it participated in the battles of First Shanxi, Charon and Second Shanxi respectively. Following the war, the Gauntlet of Solar Winds was removed from the Twelfth Fleet and reassigned to the Citadel, being reintroduced into the Citadel Defense Fleet and serving there for the rest of its career. The captain of the Gauntlet would soon after retire, as they disagreed with the new posting and believed they were being punished for the Hierarchy's miscalculations during the Relay 314 incident, and they were replaced by a CDF veteran. The Gauntlet spent most of its time in the CDF either patrolling the Widow system, enforcing customs regulations, monitoring traffic and/or running blockade against criminal ships attempting to escape C-Sec.
On 19 July 2183 CE, the Gauntlet of Solar Winds took part in the Battle of the Citadel when a massive geth heretic fleet, spearheaded by the Reaper Sovereign, launched a surprise attack on the Citadel with the aim of taking it. The Gauntlet of Solar Winds managed to survive the initial attack, and quickly rushed to defend the Destiny Ascension as it attempted to get the Citadel Council to safety. The Gauntlet of Solar Winds would eventually be picked apart and destroyed by a wolfpack of geth heavy frigates, along with the rest of the Ascension's escorts, but it had managed to protect the dreadnought long enough for Alliance reinforcements to arrive and destroy the remaining geth fleet. The sacrifice of the Gauntlet of Solar Winds and its crew are noted on the Heroes of the Citadel monument, along with the other CDF ships destroyed protecting the Citadel.
