SSV Kennedy CD-4 (Carry and Deploy-4) was a Lincoln-class escort carrier in the Alliance Navy. The fourth ship of her class to be built, the Kennedy was assigned to the Eighth Fleet under Admiral Duncan Ward not long after it was commissioned in early 2166 CE. The Kennedy was one of the initial sixty Lincoln-class ships that were ordered and built for the Alliance Navy, part of the second generation of Alliance warships that were designed and brainstormed following the First Contact War, with the Lincoln-class in particular following a greater increase in focus on producing carriers. The Kennedy followed shortly after the Truman into service, with the Kennedy becoming the head of a carrier patrol group in the Attican Traverse. Due to the rather mundane and inactive nature of the Eighth Fleet, a fate that earned it the mocking stigma of the "forgotten fleet", the Kennedy saw very little action, largely only being deployed to protect newly colonized worlds before being reassigned elsewhere. The ship would sit out both the Skyllian Blitz and the Theshaca Raids, with the Kennedy and several other task groups instead patrolling the Attican border with the Terminus Systems to ensure pirate reinforcements couldn't be deployed. The Kennedy once again took up this role during the Eden Prime War, but instead patrolled the border of geth space, and following the Armstrong cluster campaign, would be deployed to ensure the Alliance's foothold in the cluster was maintained and to repulse any further geth offensives in the sector. When the war was over, the Kennedy and a portion of the Eighth Fleet stayed to set up observation posts in the cluster, and it would send several sorties of its fighters to assist Alliance operations during the Counter-piracy campaign of 2184 CE.
The Kennedy accompanied the Eighth Fleet on the 2 June 2186 CE when it was ordered to begin assembling in the Artemis Tau cluster for preparation in invading the Batarian Hegemony pre-emptively from the north: they were instead taken aback when they were suddenly assaulted by a large Reaper fleet emerging from Hegemony space, forcing the Eighth Fleet to scatter and retreat before losses became too great. The Kennedy and the rest of the Eighth Fleet would regroup over Ontarom, where they would be ambushed a second time by a slightly larger Reaper force than before. In the ensuing ambush, the Kennedy was destroyed while trying to evacuate Alliance personnel from the planet below.
The ship was named for John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States of America from 1961 CE to 1963 CE who was famous for his handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 CE, an event considered the closest humanity ever came to thermonuclear self-annihilation. He was also one of only four US presidents who were assassinated.
