SSV Shenyang AS-27 (Attack/Support-27) was a Saratoga-class light cruiser in the Alliance Navy. The twenty-seventh ship of her class to be built, the Shenyang was assigned to the First Fleet under Admiral Adina Netanyahu before the First Contact War, and then reassigned to the Fifth Fleet under Admiral Steven Hackett following its establishment after the war. The Shenyang was one of the initial thirty Saratoga-class ships built following the formation of the Systems Alliance in 2149 CE, being assigned to the First Fleet shortly after its commissioning to bolster what was at the time the largest Alliance fleet. The Shenyang escorted over a dozen colonial expeditions that were funded by Earth's nations and the Alliance prior to first contact with the turians, and when word reached Earth of the disastrous first contact at Relay 314, the Shenyang, along with every other Alliance warship, was immediately recalled. The Shenyang fought at the Battle of Charon and the subsequent Second Battle of Shanxi, managing to survive the First Contact War. Like all other Saratoga-class ships, the Shenyang went through minor upgrades after the war in an attempt to modernize it, and shortly after returning to active service, it was transferred to the then-newly formed Fifth Fleet under Admiral Hackett. In its new posting, the Shenyang would participate in the Skyllian Blitz, taking part in the Battle of the Dhopris System: it was also deployed as a reserve force during the Theshaca Raids to support the elements of the Fifth Fleet dedicated to countering pirate operations in the sector, but its only contribution to the operation was a minor skirmish with a Blue Suns battlegroup that disabled a Blue Suns cruiser and damaged two other Blue Suns frigates that then retreated.

In 2183 CE, after the outbreak of the Eden Prime War, the Shenyang would be present at the Battle of Armstrong, where it protected the SSV McKinley from enemy fire. The Shenyang then returned with the rest of the Fifth Fleet to Mars where the Shenyang would be left to patrol the Charon relay. It was the Shenyang that first detected the SSV Normandy when it entered the Sol system, delivering its warning that the Citadel was under attack. The Shenyang was part of the first wave of Alliance reinforcements at the Battle of the Citadel, where it became one of the many ships lost over the course of the battle, with the Shenyang being overwhelmed by geth return fire whilst saving the ARW Destiny Ascension. The sacrifice of the Shenyang and her crew is noted on the Heroes of the Citadel monument, along with the other ships of the Fifth Fleet that were destroyed saving the Citadel.

The ship was named after the city of Shenyang in the former United Republics of Asian Nations on Earth.
