The Battle of Armstrong was the final conclusive engagement of the Armstrong cluster campaign. After five successful strikes into the cluster by the Systems Alliance, the geth fleet attempted to quickly withdraw. Hackett, hoping to destroy the geth fleet and strike a major blow to Saren's Alliance, aimed his fleet directly into the incursion fleet's path, blocking their escape. By the time the geth managed to counterattack, they realized they were heavily outnumbered; turning around, they entered FTL and escaped the system; but not before they suffered substantive casualties. The battle was deemed a massive strategic success, and the largest blow dealt to Saren's Alliance since the war began.
