THS Rising Star was a Century-class light cruiser in the Citadel Defense Fleet. The eight hundred and ninety-second ship of her class to be built, the Rising Star was originally slated to be assigned to the Eleventh Fleet under Prefect Sentinum Helrian, but was instead assigned to the Citadel Defense Fleet. The Rising Star spent most of its time in the CDF either patrolling the Widow system, enforcing customs regulations, monitoring traffic and/or running blockade against criminal ships attempting to escape C-Sec. On 19 July 2183 CE, the Rising Star took part in the Battle of the Citadel when a massive geth heretic fleet, spearheaded by the Reaper Sovereign, launched a surprise attack on the Citadel with the aim of taking it. The Rising Star managed to survive the initial attack, and was part of a large contingent of the CDF's left flank that moved to counterattack the geth fleet directly, with the aim of keeping them away from the Citadel. The geth offensive proved too strong however, and in the chaos of the CDF's collapsing left flank, the Rising Star was cut off from its allied ships, surrounded and destroyed by overlapping fields of fire from a dozen geth warships ranging from frigates to cruisers. The sacrifice of the Rising Star and its crew are noted on the Heroes of the Citadel monument, along with the other CDF ships destroyed protecting the Citadel.
