"There's no better news than Westerlund News, a source you can trust."
— Westerlund motto.

Westerlund News is a human galactic conservative free-to-air news extranet channel based in Helsinki, Finland in the European Union on Earth. Named for its American-born founder, Nathaniel Westerlund, Westerlund News is owned by Westerlund Media, broadcasting from its offices in Helsinki on Earth and later from its offices on Terra Nova and Elysium as well. Being a highly conservative news channel, Westerlund News was founded after the First Contact War by Nathaniel Westerlund, an outspoken critic of the Systems Alliance Charter and Council skeptic, appealing to a like-minded audience of humans who opposed humanity's "assimilation" into the galactic community and the Citadel Council itself, with the company criticized for its biased slant towards anti-Council rhetoric and somewhat racist leanings, sliding towards xenophobia and indulgence of anti-Council conspiracy theories. After its creation in 2159 CE, it became a galaxy-wide news network, although it held a contract with the Galactic Media Authority to not broadcast to the Terminus Systems. The company continues to exist to this very day, now with offices across the galaxy, and some within the Andromeda Galaxy as well.
