The Uifa'ar Nebula is a cluster located on the northern border of Hegemony space, and one of the four main clusters to be colonized by the batarians during their first wave of colonization in the late 11th Century CE. In the asari cycle, the Uifa'ar Nebula lay to the southeast of Inner Council space, and due to the terms of Treaty of Etamis, they weren't able to expand far enough to discover or colonize the cluster. In 1088 CE, the Batarian People's Republic discovered and colonized the nebula, as it wasn't far from their home cluster. The Uifa'ar Nebula would become the bastion of the "great Batarian Empire", as the batarians invested heavily in developing fleetyards, observation posts and fortresses within the cluster to make it the perfect location to make a stand against a hostile foreign aggressor: the headquarters of this vast network of installations would be centered around Torfan. These fortifications never saw use during the Quarian-Batarian War, but the nebula remained under the Batarian Hegemony's control for many centuries afterwards. It wasn't until the last week of the Skyllian Blitz in 2177 CE when the nebula came under direct threat, this time from the Systems Alliance. Despite fierce resistance, the nebula had fallen within a week, and after the war, the batarians abandoned the entire cluster, deeming it too much of a financial loss to waste resources rebuilding it.
Aside from a brief conference held on Torfan between the defeated parties of the Second Batarian Civil War in 2203 CE, Uifa'ar wouldn't see life again until after the Dominion Civil War, where it was finally reclaimed by the Third Batarian Republic.
