The Type-77 Anti-Aerospace Planetary Cannon, colloquially known as the Pincer, was a surface-to-orbit defense weapon system utilized by the geth from 1999 CE to 2204 CE. The Pincer was a highly adaptive, fully rotational planetary gun capable of a high rate of fire with devastating effect. The Pincer was classified by the Migrant Fleet's Xecr'teh-10 as a "priority threat" to naval vessels of capital ship weight, capable of tearing through a cruiser's shields in six bursts of sustained fire. The gun's targeting matrix and ability to be directly controlled by geth programs gave it deadly accuracy: it also had the capability to utilize advanced forms of GPS triangulation to link up its targeting subroutines with geth vessels in orbit, or with geth LIDAR stations planet-side, allowing said ships/stations to "paint" targets for the cannon to fire upon. However, while devastatingly effective against capital ships, the T-77 was ineffective against smaller vessels such as fighters and shuttles, a role which was better suited to anti-aircraft guns. Its effectiveness was also reduced the closer a target got, with inter-atmospheric vehicles able to overcome the gun's advantages. And, as was proven during the Eden Prime War, its targeting system was also unable to penetrate the IES stealth system used by the SSV Normandy, leaving it unable to detect or fire upon ships equipped with it, and therefore being rendered useless.

The T-77 saw extensive action in the Eden Prime War and Second Morning War. Many T-77s were used by the geth heretics around the outskirts of the Virmire Heretic Fortress, and numerous T-77s across the surface of Rannoch fired upon quarian vessels at the First Battle of Rannoch and Liberation of Rannoch respectively. They were finally retired in 2204 CE, where they were replaced by the smaller, but more powerful Type-78 "Hubble" AAPC.
