— Motto of the Getho-Quarian Republic.

The Republic of Rannoch, simply known as the Getho-Quarian Republic or the Quarian Republic, also known as the Second Quarian Republic and New Quarian Republic, and sometimes as the Second Rannochian Republic, is the representative body of Rannoch, its nations and quarian and geth colonies from 2188 CE to present. Formed in 2188 CE in the aftermath of the Reaper War, the Republic of Rannoch was created to establish a permanent government for both the quarians and the geth, dissolving the provisional government of the Rannochian Coalition. After ending their 300 year long conflict with each other, the quarians and the geth were now united as one people, with the quarians having returned to their homeworld while the geth had achieved full AI status, welcoming the quarians back and ending their isolation from the rest of the galaxy. Its recognition of the geth as citizens lent towards it being called the "Getho-Quarian Republic", a single nation for both the quarians and the geth, and the introduction of the geth into positions of political, economic and military power within quarian society made the New Republic, despite its relative nascence on the galactic stage, a powerful force to be reckoned with. The Getho-Quarian Republic was the work of numerous quarians and geth working together, but it was Tali'Shepard's endorsement of it that quickly settled the matter of its creation. From 2188 CE onwards, the Migrant Fleet and the Geth Consensus ceased to exist as separate entities, and the Migrant Fleet was disbanded altogether, no longer relevant now that the quarians had a world to settle again.

In its early days, the New Republic quickly reclaimed old territory, as well as being awarded some new planets as a concession for the sacrifices they made in the Reaper War. Their proximity to the nascent Systems Coalition, created in 2191 CE, and the symbolism of Commander Shepard's relationship with Tali'Zorah, strengthened ties between the two nations, and it wasn't long before a permanent pact binding them together was formed in the form of the Terra-Rannochian Pact, a deal that secured trade, friendly relations and acted as a mutual defense treaty all in one. This earned the New Republic the ire of the New Council, but as the New Republic was quickly becoming a powerful new superpower, and had the military forces to back up their ambitions, the New Council mostly avoided conflict with the Republic and its Coalition allies, engaging in a brief cold war when the Coalition and the New Republic seceded from the New Council to form the Galactic Dominion in response to the news that the New Council were negotiating with the Titan Covenant, a move both nations were adamantly opposed to. In 2205 CE, these tensions went hot and the Post-Apocalyptic War began, with the New Republic spending much of the war fighting off Covenant and Omega incursions into its territory, although it eventually regained the initiative and pushed the Covenant outside, launching incursions of its own into Omega's territory. After the war ended in 2215 CE with the Dominion's triumph, the New Republic got a cut of the spoils in that they annexed many former Omega territories, occupying much of the entirety of the Dominion's northern realm. Despite this, the New Republic was adamantly opposed to the war crimes being committed by the Coalition in occupied former New Council territories, and the New Republic refused any complicity in them by withdrawing its forces, leaving the Coalition and the Tuchankan Confederacy to perform occupation duties, although it would provide ships and troops for Operation Silent Zealot.

In 2253 CE, civil war within the Dominion broke out, with Rannoch as the epicenter for the start of the conflict. Exposing Prometheus' complicity in killing his former comrades and for the murder of Tali'Zorah, and that they were actually a resurgent Cerberus, Commander Shepard leaked this fact onto the extranet, where Rannoch's population was the first to witness it: this lead to a civil war across Rannoch, a civil war that soon spiraled out of control and consumed much of the Dominion. Rannoch and the rest of the New Republic became divided amongst two factions, the separatists loyal to the burgeoning Dominion Dissident Front and wanting vengeance for Tali'Zorah, and the Dominion loyalists with Prometheus and Dominion backing. Much of the New Republic senate sided with the separatists, leading to a coup d'etat from the loyalists who arrested the Senate and established a provisional government under Dominion control. Through this, the loyalists tried to take control of the New Republic, but this only served to unite the quarians against them, and the entirety of the geth population rose up in support of the separatists. Halfway through the war, an RSF offensive liberated the capital, and although the Dominion's provisional government evacuated at the last minute, it was a major victory for the RSF and invigorated them to retake the rest of the planet, and from there, many other quarian/geth worlds under Dominion control. After the civil war, the Senate was re-established, and many of the quarians who sided with the Dominion who were captured were tried for treason and either executed or given lengthy prison sentences. Despite having mostly sided with the separatists, the New Republic was one of many former Dominion states that was forced to sign the Virmire Accords, making numerous concessions to the nations affected, as well as formally recognize the sovereignty and independence of the new Virminian Republic. In the centuries following the Dominion's collapse, the restrictions placed on the New Republic were gradually lifted, and it became a productive member of the UGR, even providing ships and troops to the GAE fleet in 2826 CE. By 2930 CE, the New Republic, as had many other governments, had established colonies in the Andromeda Galaxy, and provided financial and political support for numerous alien races that had just achieved interstellar travel, helping them to establish their presence in the galactic community. By 2947 CE, the New Republic's capital in Andromeda was centered at New Rayya in the Zorah cluster.
