- "Does this unit have a soul?"
- — The infamous line spoken by Unit M42 that, arguably, began the First Morning War.
Geth (Latin: Friggus Apparatus, literally meaning "cold machine"), which is a khelish name for "Servants of the People", are a sentient/sapient synthetic bipedal species created by the quarians and native to their homeworld of Rannoch. Built by the quarians in 1744 CE, the geth eventually developed from VI into AI, a transition of which led to the outbreak of the First Morning War between themselves and their creators, which they won, exiling their creators. The geth are extremely intelligent and are the most technologically advanced civilization in the asari cycle.
