SSV Nobunaga CDH-25 (Carry and Deploy/Heavy-25) was a Nelson-class carrier in the Alliance Navy. The twenty-fifth ship of her class to be built, the Nobunaga was assigned to the Fifth Fleet under Admiral Steven Hackett not long after it was commissioned in early 2166 CE. The Nobunaga was one of the initial thirty Nelson-class ships that were ordered and built for the Alliance Navy following the First Contact War, with the ship being assigned to colonial patrol duties along the edges of Alliance space: from its commissioning until the Skyllian Blitz, the Nobunaga would take part in forty different patrols. During the Blitz the Nobunaga would take part in Operation Samson's Pillars, where it was deployed during the Battle of the Dhopris System following the neutralization of a batarian anti-aerospace installation in the system: from here, fighter and interceptor support provided by the Nobunaga and the other carriers of the fleet proved vital in defeating the batarians. After the Blitz, the Nobunaga would participate in the Theshaca Raids, helping to protect the Alliance listening posts over Theshaca itself. Following the Raids, the Nobunaga would be returned to active patrol duty, going on to play a minor role in Operation Gyrfalcon in 2181 CE. In 2183 CE, following the outbreak of the Eden Prime War, the Nobunaga would take part in the Battle of Armstrong and Battle of the Citadel, suffering significant damage during the latter where it was forced to undergo repairs afterwards before returning to service. It would return to service in time to participate in the Counter-piracy campaign of 2184 CE.

In 2186 CE, the Nobunaga would accompany the rest of the Fifth Fleet to Earth to reinforce the Second and Fourth fleets in defending the planet during the opening stages of the Reaper invasion on Reaper Day. The Nobunaga would be destroyed following the opening stages of the battle, caught between the legs of a Scarab-class swiper and crushed whilst attempting to cover the Fifth Fleet's tactical withdrawal, the ship being lost with all hands.

The ship was named after Oda Nobunaga, a famous 16th Century Japanese daimyo and general who lived during the Sengoku period of Japan's history and was known for his innovative military tactics and strategy, for his ruthlessness, for fostering free trade, for reforming Japan's civil administration and nearly uniting Japan under his rule prior to his forced suicide at the hands of his retainer Akechi Mitsuhide. He is considered one of the greatest generals in Japanese history, as well as general human history.
