The 6th Light Strike Group (6th LSG) was a detachment of the 10th Strike Fleet. Activated in May 2177 CE along with the rest of the 10th Strike Fleet, the 6th LSG was a squadron of five Chupacabra-class corvettes that was one of seven LSGs intended to prosecute peripheral support missions that the Cerberus Navy couldn't dedicate significant resources towards, largely tasks such as surveillance, shadowing enemy targets, quick deployment and extraction of commando units and strike operations. In lieu of the stealth ships that Cerberus didn't have, the 6th LSG could act as spy ships, collecting intelligence for Cerberus or acting as a rapid deployment force for commando or army elements.

The 6th LSG by itself had only performed surveillance and intelligence gathering activities by the time of its assignment to Project Totem in 2183 CE, where it was to act as naval support to the 36th and 39th commando platoons as they monitored the project on the MSV Fedele. The entirety of the 6th LSG were destroyed when the Normandy Squad intervened, with the 6th engaging the SSV Normandy in combat during the operation and being picked apart one by one until all five corvettes were destroyed, outmatched by the Normandy's superior firepower and maneuverability. The 6th LSG was reformed in late 2183 CE with five new corvettes, but would only remain in service until 2185 CE, where the 10th Strike Fleet was dissolved and the ships reassigned to the then-newly formed Cerberus Second Fleet.
