Hellion Plaza was a shopping center on the Citadel's Shalta Ward. Named after Hellion Mexinius, the man who planned and constructed it, the plaza was built in 1243 CE and opened the following year was a small shopping center for the upper section of the Shalta Ward, and to boost the ward's local economy. It was home to numerous facilities, among them a nightclub, clinic, upper and lower markets, and an information center: the market also sported an unobstructed, scenic view of Widow, which gave it a unique edge when compared to larger complexes such as Widowgate on Zakera Ward. While enjoying success for the first few centuries of its existence, other plazas opening up on the Ward led to Hellion falling behind and unable to catch up. Its information center shut down in 1821 CE, where its spot would remain vacant until 2178 CE when Sig Tarleuz opened a second night club called Chora's Den. The other night club, Tastebud, was in financially dire straits and had filed for bankruptcy when Doran Qar bought it, paid off the existing debt, and reopened the club as Flux in 2183 CE. These changes, however, were not enough to keep Hellion Plaza afloat. In fact, the opening of Chora's Den led to a marked increase in crime in the area, forcing a larger C-Sec presence which then scared people away.

By 2183 CE, Hellion Plaza was relying entirely on local good will to keep itself afloat financially: the destruction following the Battle of the Citadel in July of the same year, which caused extensive damage to the plaza, was deemed too costly to invest funds into repairing. The plaza was saved from closure by ShopDrop Co., the same company that owned Widowgate, who invested money into its repairs and renovation, helping to modernize it. Hellion Plaza would remain open until 2253 CE, when it was destroyed with the rest of the Citadel.
