Widowgate, trademarked as ShopDrop Widowgate, was a large, multi-levelled shopping center on the Citadel's Zakera Ward. Built by ShopDrop Co., the shopping center was intended as the premiere, go-to shopping center for the entire Citadel. The center had 20 levels of shops ranging from grocery stores to electronic boutiques, and eventually expanded to house warehouses, cafes and restaurants as well. Widowgate was an enormous financial success for the company, exceeding all fiscal expectations in regards to turnout and gross earnings. Hundreds of stores and other shops rented out the space over the nearly five hundred years that the shopping center was open. Its main competitor, Hellion Plaza, was bought out by ShopDrop Co. to become part of its brand, leaving Widowgate to enjoy a monopoly across the Citadel. Following the Battle of the Citadel, C-Sec built an outpost and security cordon at the center's parking lot as per the then-newly passed Citadel Security Incursion Prevention Act (2184).
Following the Reaper War, Widowgate continued to sludge through the economic depression that began during the Reaper War, and continued until 2190 CE. Widowgate was purchased by Artyom-Tora Associates following ShopDrop's dissolution after the Post-Apocalyptic War, where it was expanded to incorporate two more levels. Widowgate would remain open until 2253 CE, when it was destroyed with the rest of the Citadel.
