The Crossfire assault rifle was a semi-automatic heat sink-based block-fed battle rifle manufactured by Armax Arsenal. Manufactured and entering service in 2122 CE, the Crossfire battle rifle was meant for use by the Hierarchy Armed Forces, primarily the Army of Palaven, due to its high damage output, armor piercing capabilities and decent accuracy and recoil mitigation. Named for its ability to place a large amount of ordnance down range before overheating, the Crossfire battle rifle saw a long service life within the turian army, serving all the way up until the replacement of block-fed weapons with thermal clips in 2184 CE. Serving alongside the Hierarchy's staple Phaeston III rather than replacing it, the Crossfire was a favourite among turian troops, so much so that elements of its design would be incorporated into the Phaeston IV, which would ultimately replace it. The Crossfire could shred through most medium to heavy armors, and could be equipped with armor piercing rounds for even more devastating effect, even on lightly armoured vehicles. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-15 Vindicator, while it was functionally replaced by the Phaeston IV in the turian military.
