The Raptor assault rifle was a fully automatic heat sink-based block-fed assault rifle manufactured by Devlon Industries. Manufactured and entering service in 2164 CE, the Raptor assault rifle was designed for use by the Systems Alliance Armed Forces and for civilian use, where it found use among numerous interstellar militaries, PMCs and security corporations, with the weapon particularly favoured by the UNAS military and became the standard issue service rifle of the People's Liberation Army. Capable of full auto fire and possessing decent recoil, but with the drawback of significant bullet spread, the Raptor assault rifle was considered a good rifle for quick engagements, but during protracted combat its shortcomings would begin to arise: these were largely looked over due to the weapon's comparatively cheap pricing and easy-to-build manufacturing. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-15 Vindicator following the introduction of the thermal clip in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. No direct successor to the Raptor exists, as Devlon shifted solely to the manufacture of armor and the M-92 Mantis, their premiere snipe rifle. The M-8 Avenger and M-7 Lancer ultimately supplanted the Raptor throughout the Alliance, UNAS and PLA militaries.
