The Colossus light anti-ballistics combat mesh (as the quarian variant is called), and simply the Colossus light combat armor with the other variants, was a ceramic-based protective light combat armor manufactured by Kassa Fabrication. Manufactured and entering service in 2169 CE, the Colossus armor was initially designed for use by human, turian and asari mercenaries, seeing service in many smaller and larger PMC groups, including the Blue Suns and Eclipse, and favoured heavily by bounty hunters: however, a variant for quarians would later be designed as well for use by pilgrims, although this version served less as a full hardsuit of armor and more of a "mesh" that was wrapped around a quarian's suit, effectively serving as armored padding. Being light armor, it had low damage protection and was outfitted with somewhat weak kinetic barriers, but was extremely flexible and lightweight. The Colossus armor would be phased out by 2184 CE, entirely replaced by the Stormtrooper armor in use by mercenaries, while the Migrant Fleet Marines cannibalized and improved upon their supply of Colossus meshes to provide their own homegrown version of the armor, which they would supply to their pilgrims from that point forward.
