The Hammer sniper rifle was a semi-automatic heat sink-based block-fed sniper rifle manufactured by Elanus Threat Management Solutions. Manufactured and entering service in 2150 CE, the Hammer sniper rifle was a semi-automatic sniper rifle designed for use by security corporations, PMCs and tactical police squads, with Elanus themselves outfitting their ERCS personnel with it. The weapon had poor accuracy at longer ranges and limited armor penetration, with the purpose of the Hammer being to quickly disperse a target, firing multiple rounds quickly over a single round accurately, with the intent of it being used in close quarters, namely over a two block distance, for maximum effect. While this limited it for military and combat applications, ERCS and other security corporations found it to be extremely useful in this role. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-92 Mantis following the introduction of the thermal clip in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. No direct successor to the Hammer exists, with ERCS outfitting their personnel with the M-97 Viper.
