The Edge pistol was a semi-automatic heat sink-based block-fed light pistol manufactured by Elkoss Combine. Manufactured and entering service in 1950 CE, the Edge pistol was considered one of the cheapest pistols on the market, used only by the militaries of smaller nations, PMCs and security corporations, and whose use often fell into the hands of petty criminals and the desperate. The weapon's accuracy was very poor, with a large amount of bullet spread, and while modifications could allow for armor penetration, the base version of the Edge pistol could barely pierce the protection of the most basic light armor, and was totally ineffective against kinetic barriers due to it being incompatible with disruptor rounds: the weapon was also prone to overheat very quickly. Despite these technical issues, the affordability of the Edge pistol made it one of the most common pistols in the entire galaxy. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-3 Predator after the introduction of the thermal clip in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. No direct successor to the Edge pistol exists, although its common availability to even the most basic citizen was supplanted by the M-3 Predator.
