- "Peace takes us forward. War takes us back. In the end, only one is going to give us Rannoch."
- — Zaal'Koris
Admiral Zaal'Koris vas Shellen (formerly known as Zaal'Koris nar Wiworp and Zaal'Koris vas Qwib Qwib) was a former admiral of the Migrant Fleet and of the Civilian Fleet and former Fleet Admiral of the Second Getho-Quarian Fleet. Originally the captain of the QMFV Qwib Qwib, Zaal'Koris was considered one of the more moderate admirals in the Migrant Fleet compared to his colleagues, and one of the few in the position to openly support the Pe'geth political movement, calling for an end to Operation First Strike and hostilities with the geth. During his pilgrimage, he visited Sur'Kesh, Palaven and Thessia, where he became very versed in galactic politics, but also whre he developed his sympathies for the geth, and joined the Pe'geth movement upon his return. He constantly campaigned for the admiralty over the Civilian Fleet, eventually defeating his opponent Rine'Nemin and replacing the previous admiral, Faenn'Waazh. His pacifistic stance on the geth war put him in direct conflict with Han'Gerrel of the Heavy Fleet, who supported the war. Despite this, Zaal'Koris remained loyal to the Fleet during the Second Morning War, even sacrificing his ship during the First Battle of Rannoch. After the war, Zaal'Koris took command of the Second Getho-Quarian Fleet in fighting the Reapers, and eventually took part in the Battle of Sol, where his new command, the Shellen, was destroyed during the battle, resulting in his death.
Many of Koris' policies would inspire many of the political changes in the Republic of Rannoch, with his support of a Getho-Quarian Union being strongly supported and made instrinsic to the Republic: for example, the geth being recognized, both legally and culturally, as equal and identical in rights to quarians. These policies of assimilation and merging between the two species, known as the Korisian policies, became instrumental in shaping the principles of the New Quarian Republic going forward, and one of its most lauded values when compared to its Old Republic predecessor.
