- "When my pilgrimage is done, I'm going to tour the galaxy. My music will require a bit more of a...acquired taste."
- — Yalu'Sal .
Yalu'Sal nar Idenna was a pre-pilgrimage quarian musician of the Migrant Fleet living aboard the QMFV Idenna. Born on the Idenna into Clan Sal, a clan known for its suit-making, Yalu followed in the footsteps of her brother, Prazza'Sal, in defying their lineage to pursue another career, with Yalu pursuing her passion for music, with dreams of starting her own band to tour the galaxy, observing a potential hole in the market for quarian-led bands, noting only a few that still existed. Despite her parents' objections, they were proud of their daughter, observing her musical talent early on, and wanting to encourage her to evolve, and at an early age she would be requested to play her music at the ship's mess hall where the entire crew, including captain Ysin'Mal, could enjoy it. Prior to the planned beginning of her pilgrimage, Yalu began work on her first album, developing a few songs she wished to experiment on when she got back.
In 2184 CE, she was visited by her brother Prazza when his unit, the 12th Explorer Platoon, was on leave with the Idenna. She was present when the ship was attacked by Cerberus in a raid, and despite trying to find cover early on, the chaos in the halls resulted in Yalu being caught in the open. Despite attempting to surrender, Yalu was gunned down by the commandos, who believed she was reaching for a weapon, and by the time Prazza found her body, she was already dead. Yalu's death served as the catalyst for Prazza's hatred for his commander, Tali'Zorah, to be further cemented, blaming her for his sister's death, and this only further drove a wedge between them, culminating over a year later with Prazza's mutiny and subsequent death during the Raid on Little Rock in 2185 CE.
