- "There are no "checkmates". Victory does not rest in a singe battle. It is a constant effort. And that is the kind of struggle I am most adept at."
- — Xerxes.
Xerxes (model number: ZC610), legally recognized as Xerxes pav Rannoch, is a Destroyer-class geth naval officer in the Rannoch Republican Navy, being a former imperial admiral of the Galactic Dominion that commanded the Maginot Armada and the commanding officer of the RNS Blood Horizon. Built and activated in 2183 CE at the Uma'Waz Manufacturing Plant on Rannoch and assigned the model number ZC610, Xerxes would serve in the Geth Navy in a naval infantry capacity, whilst its runtimes were also delegated to command a heavy cruiser and would be assigned to patrol with the bulk of the geth home fleet in the Tikkun system. Xerxes would, with the rest of the geth, accept the Reaper offer to be upgraded with Reaper code at the cost of being controlled by the Reapers during the Second Morning War, and it would command a heavy cruiser at the First Battle of Rannoch and the subsequent Liberation of Rannoch. Following the end of the war and peace with the quarians, having now fully actualized as an individual being, Xerxes would choose to name himself after a Persian king of human historical antiquity, following a naming convention that would become commonplace amongst all geth following the war. Demonstrating himself to be a competent and capable naval commander, Xerxes would command a detachment of the First Getho-Quarian Fleet under geth admiral Themistocles, serving during the Second War for Omega, Operation Guardian and Operation Hornet's Nest, and would be present for the final assault on Cronos Station, as well as the final battle over Earth, where Xerxes' task force successfully protected its quarian sister force.
Following the Reaper War, Xerxes would return with the rest of geth and quarian forces to Rannoch, and after the reorganization of the First Getho-Quarian Fleet into the first and third fleets, Xerxes' cruiser would be renamed the RNS Survivor and he would be placed in command of the Rannochian Third Fleet. In 2195 CE, he transferred to the dreadnought Rannoch's Retribution when it was made the new flagship of the Third Fleet, and he would serve during the Post-Apocalyptic War, serving on the Attican Front and seeing brief action on the Skyllian Front in the last year of the conflict. After the war, when construction of the Maginot Line began, Xerxes was one of many experienced naval commanders in the Galactic Dominion that was picked as a candidate to command the Maginot Armada, the sizable fleet that would be charged with defending the Maginot Line, and it would be Xerxes who'd ultimately be chosen, given the rank of Imperial Admiral and choosing the battleship Blood Horizon as his flagship. Xerxes would command the Maginot Armada unerringly for the entirety of the Terra-Rannochian War, fighting off wave after wave of incursions by the Titan Covenant as they tried to find ways to breach the line, and even led several counterattacks from the line into Covenant territory on occasion and when authorized to do so, suffering only one defeat at the Battle of the Echoes in 2248 CE when his ship was almost destroyed, only narrowly escaping thanks to his Dominion escorts: he would avenge his defeat in 2249 CE at the Battle of Horphon. When the Dominion Civil War broke out in late 2252 CE, Xerxes chose to remain neutral, ignoring Dominion orders to abandon the Line in favor of helping them crush the rebellion, but also refusing to join the Dominion Dissident Front, knowing that the Line was all that stood between the Dominion and the full might of the Covenant military and that any perceived weakness would be exploited by their enemy. To this extent, Xerxes would accept the assistance of DDF forces in defending the Line from Covenant attack towards the end of the war, but Xerxes' Maginot Armada was ultimately defeated by Dominion loyalist forces in the Battle of the Maginot Line, where they used the Citadel-Ark to punch a hole through Xerxes' line and successfully broke through. Xerxes survived the battle however and, with what forces remained to him, finally elected to join the DDF, joining the Battle of the Citadel-Ark, arriving late in the battle as reinforcements, spearheading the counterattack in his Blood Horizon.
Following the end of the civil war, Xerxes was promoted to Fleet Admiral and placed in command of the Milky Way 7th Fleet of the Unified Galactic Navy, retaining command of the Blood Horizon until it was decommissioned in 2283 CE. He remained in command of the 7th Fleet until 2756 CE, when he left the UGN to become a military advisor to the then-nascent Angaran Interstellar Defense Force, liaising on the creation of the new Angaran navy.
