Vorcha
From FABT
- "Vorcha? Think? Hahaha. Spirits, I hope not. If the vorcha start thinking, we'll be in trouble. They're scavengers. Rabid animals. The only reason we even share these stars together is because the krogan lifted them from the muck."
- — Preitor Gavorn when asked about vorcha.
Vorcha (Latin: Venator Stipant, literally meaning "pack hunter") are a sentient/sapient organic bipedal species native to their homeworld of Heshtok and of the reptilian classification. The vorcha never achieved interstellar travel on their own, their planet stripped of its natural resources as the species was kept rooted in never ending, incessant warfare across the planet, hundreds of thousands of packs constantly fighting each other and keeping their society from any meaningful advancement, stuck in an unending cycle of violence and survival: lasting governments were never established due to their short-lived lifespans and constant infighting, and concepts such as militaries and economies meant nothing to their species, with every vorcha bred for combat and the lack of value placed on their planet's resources meaning that economies were simply a foreign concept to them. It wouldn't be until the discovery and annexation of Heshtok into the Tuchankan Empire in 426 CE, with the krogan forcefully enslaving their species and bringing an end to the constant warfare on the planet, if only for the purposes of providing them with a stream of combat-ready troops to use in their armies, especially when the Krogan Rebellions broke out in 700 CE.
