"Money makes empires, and it crumbles them. Money forged who we are, and it permeats our will. Money compels us to be generous, it compels us to be gracious and it compels us to be kind. Charity should always be at the forefront of our minds, and for that, we create our own light."
— Chapter 9, the Book of Plenix.

Volus (Latin: Parva Pecunia, literally meaning "small money") are a sentient/sapient organic bipedal species native to their homeworld of Irune and of the mammalia classification. Achieving interstellar travel in 807 CE, the volus joined the galactic community fairly late into the asari cycle. The volus are highly intelligent and experts in business and finance, possessing the most powerful and wealthy economy in the entire galaxy. The volus are not combatants, and therefore are not seen in many, if any, militaries, even preferring to outsource their defense to other, more powerful species such as the turians. They are often arrogant and quick to judge, but are also incredibly intelligent in terms of economics.
