Vetus is a star system in the Petra Nebula, and the chosen seat of the Systems Coalition. In the asari cycle, the Vetus system, along with the rest of the Petra nebula, was desired by many races, but could never be colonized by any of them due to the restrictions placed on colonization in the Skyllian Verge by the Treaty of Etamis. It would remain unoccupied until the 2160s, when humanity occupied and colonized Elysium as part of their second phase colonization effort started in 2160 CE. The system was claimed by the Batarian Hegemony a century beforehand however, and they directly contested control of the system in 2176 CE when they besieged Elysium, leading to the outbreak of the Skyllian Blitz, where the Alliance would ultimately be victorious. The Vetus system fell to the Reapers in the Reaper War, and would later become the chosen seat of the Systems Coalition following the construction of Epitaph Station over Elysium. The system would be briefly invaded by the New Council in the Post-Apocalyptic War, and when Elysium declared for the Dominion Dissident Front during the Dominion Civil War, the system saw extensive fighting until April 2253 CE. Since then, the system has remained the core of the Systems Coalition.
