The Ursa medium combat armor was a ceramic-based protective medium combat armor manufactured by Hahne-Kedar Solutions. Manufactured and entering service in 2178 CE, the Ursa armor was designed for use by humans, asari, turians and krogan, with the intent of being sold to PMCs, paramilitaries, security organizations, interstellar militaries and law enforcement across a wide range of the Milky Way Galaxy. Designed for use by long-range infantry and snipers, the Ursa possessed stronger kinetic barriers at the expense of actual armor, but also boasted excellent tech protection, making it very useful for snipers who needed to switch rapidly between the roles of sharpshooting and sabotage: it was also highly flexible, allowing an operator to jump from prone to crouched to standing as fluidly as they would if they weren't wearing any armor. The Ursa was also used by virtually every single Earth-based military, with the exception of the South American Union, and the krogan variant was favoured by the many krogan snipers participating in the Krogan Civil Wars or hiring out their expertise to interested clients. The Ursa armor would be phased out by 2184 CE, entirely replaced by the Stormtrooper armor in use by human and asari mercenaries, the A1S armor and Rage-class heavy battle armor among krogan mercs (although many Ursa armors would continue to remain in use by certain krogan clans) and a wide array of other armors among Earth-based nations.
