"Our enemies neutered us. They stripped us of our greatness and dismantled our mighty empire by killing our children. And now they humiliate us by forcing us to live out our lives as we did before the salarians uplifted us. No, they must pay, and they will. Our empire will rise again, and genophage or no genophage, each of their worlds will be sacked and toppled and destroyed. We will decimate their culture as they did ours. Justice demands it, son."
— Urdnot Jarrod's speech to his son, shortly before betraying him.

Chieftain Urdnot Jarrod, was the chieftain of Clan Urdnot from 765 CE to 1572 CE, a former Battalion Commander in the Tuchankan Imperial Army, and the father of Urdnot Wrex. Born on Aven prior to the Krogan Rebellions, he was one of twelve sons of Urdnot Seg, a powerful krogan battlelord who had served in the Rachni Wars. Despite this, Jarrod showed the most promise to Seg as a warrior, and thus was taken personally under his wing when he took command of the 5th Warband, and Jarrod joined Seg when he was deployed to Garvug on the fringes of the Krogan Bloc. This led to Jarrod being heavily influenced by Seg's political beliefs and ideology, where he became a hardline Imperial loyalist who was devoted to the state, personal glory in battle and the continued expansion of the "great krogan horde". Jarrod fought in the Krogan Rebellions, serving in numerous campaigns under his father, and enjoyed endless victories until the Third Battle of Noveria, where Seg was finally killed, along with the vast majority of the 5th Warband, with Jarrod and only a few scant survivors barely making it out alive. Jarrod would continue to command his own unit, Jarrod's Horderiders, who he made sure to be outfitted with kakliosaur mounts. This tactic worked greatly in many ground engagements, until the turians finally found a way to counter kakliosaur charges and they were held in reserve for the rest of the war.

Following the Rebellions, Jarrod was one of many warlords who survived the conflict, and was extremely bitter about what he termed to be a 'cowardly victory,' calling the genophage a hateful crime beyond imagining, and strongly believed in a resurgent second krogan empire that would rise from the ashes and bring justice upon the Citadel Council. Jarrod was termed a 'troubling influence' by the CDEM, but little was done in regards to dealing with him, and most believed the krogan to be neutralized as a military threat. Jarrod continued along a path of warmongering, quickly gathering like-minded allies around him who agreed with his sentiments. Jarrod became chieftain of Clan Urdnot shortly into the Krogan Civil Wars, and declared them for Clan Weyrloc and Reyrdok, the three of them forming up the bulk of the Traditionalist's major clans, and thus considering himself one of the first proponents of revived Moroism, also known as Neo-Moroism. Jarrod gained large-scale support for his war, aside from a group spearheaded by one of his sons, Urdnot Wrex, calling themselves the Reformists. Wrex gathered support around him by winning numerous victories against Traditionalist forces, gathering enough allies within Urdnot to challenge his father for the chieftainship. Jarrod refused him, leading to an outbreak of civil war within the clan. Wrex and Jarrod fought for three decades, with Wrex winning a brilliant victory over Jarrod at the Battle of Srel Mutack. This defeat, coupled with the growing amount of smaller, and now larger, clans that were beginning to join or switch sides to the Reformists, forced Jarrod to rethink his strategy.

In 1572 CE, Jarrod called for a Crush, hoping to convince his son to join his cause while also simultaneously laying a trap for him in which he could eliminate Wrex and his lieutenants if he didn't turn. He arranged the meeting at the Hollows, where it was sacrilegious to spill blood, which Jarrod hoped would sufficiently trick Wrex into believing the meeting was legitimate. Jarrod confronted his son, and when it became clear Wrex wouldn't join him, he sprung his trap. Wrex's men were outnumbered and quickly overwhelmed, but not before Wrex sank his dagger into Jarrod's heart, killing him. Clan Urdnot would be faced with a temporary power struggle to replace Jarrod, as the succession dictated Wrex take his place. Wrex however disappeared into self-imposed exile and left the planet to begin life as a freelance mercenary, and thus Urdnot Wreav, Jarrod's second son and Wrex's half-brother, took his place a week later, although he managed to convince the Urdnot to unite for the betterment of the clan. While this led to the end of the Urdnot civil war, it also forced Wreav to pull his clan out of the civil wars, taking a less preeminent role in the conflicts, due to his father's reputation being destroyed by his violation of sacred ground. This tarnished Clan Urdnot's reputation for another 600 years, until Wrex finally returned in mid 2183 CE and took back control of the clan, restoring Urdnot's reputation with the formation of the United Krogan Clans.
