"As useful as she is swift, the Kodiak is an angel to soldiers in severe need of extraction. Graceful as a bird, quick as a cheetah."
— Alliance serviceman.

The UT-47 Drop Shuttle, colloquially known as the Kodiak, was a class of drop shuttle and dropship designed and constructed by the Systems Alliance. First designed in 2155 CE, a prototype passed all flight tests and shuttles were constructed en masse. When the First Contact War hit in 2157 CE, kodiaks were used to deploy mass amounts of troops to liberate Shanxi. After the war, the Council were impressed by some of the inventions the humans had developed, among them being kodiak drop shuttles.

Beforehand, the Council had relied heavily on troop transports, but noted that dropships were a much more effective means of deploying troops (unknown to them, the geth had embraced his concept a few hundred years before). Because of this, the UT-47 has become the staple dropship for most Council militaries, especially the Alliance. The shuttle is also heavily employed by Cerberus, as well as numerous countries on Earth.

A stealth variant, the UT-47A Kodiak, was developed just prior to the Reaper War
