"You abandoned many traditions to get your way...dangerous."
Gatatog Uvenk, a Traditionalist, arguing with Urdnot Wrex, a Reformist.

The Tuchankan Traditionalists, also known as the Krogan Traditionalists or simply the Traditionalists by other krogan (formerly known as the Tuchankan Imperialists, Krogan Imperialists or just the Imperialists by other krogan) was a military alliance of krogan clans, nations and other krogan interests that represented one of two factions fighting during the Krogan Civil Wars in its later stages, originally known as the "Tuchankan Imperialists" until 1172 CE, and aligned under the belief of Neo-Moroism, wanting to preserve ancient krogan traditions, supporting a vengeance war against the Citadel Council for the genophage and wanting to restore the Tuchankan Empire. Following the end of the Krogan Rebellions, the heavily demilitarized krogan were left scattered and without a centralized government, with tensions rising between major clans as they disagreed on the path forward post-war, many wanting to try and build a new society from the ashes of the old Empire and to grow stronger from it, while others wanted to hold onto the past, grasping onto old traditions and the promise of getting revenge against the Council for the genophage. Clans who believed in the latter would form the Imperialist faction, rallied under the banner of Clan Strirgon, the clan of the last Archlord of the Empire, Strirgon Gunake, and the Imperialists would battle the Progressionists, and later the Altruists too, for supremacy and control over Tuchanka, heralding in the beginning of the Krogan Civil Wars. Many powerful clans, such as Clan Urdnot, Clan Jorgal, Clan Weyrloc, Clan Reyrdok and Clan Gatatog joined the Imperialists, and for much of the first stage of the civil wars, the Imperialists held much of the remaining manpower and arsenal remaining to the krogan, controlling fast swaths of territory and beating back almost every Progressionist offensive. Even when the Altruists dissolved to merge with the Progressionists, strenghtening them politically, the Imperialists remained almost unmatched on the battlefield and were the strongest of the two factions by far.

In 1172 CE, the Imperialists would rebrand themselves as the "Traditionalists", as centuries had passed and they were no closer to rebuilding the Empire: as such, their goals had shifted to focus solely on vengeance against the Council for the genophage, controlling Tuchanka in totality and, if successful, building a new empire under Traditionalist control. This dawned in a new era for the Krogan Civil Wars: by this point, Clan Strirgon had died out as a result of the genophage, with the few remaining females it had being sterile, and after losing most of its remaining warriors in the Final War of Clan Strirgon in 1246 CE, the clan was effectively neutered as an influential clan, and had lost much of the respect of its former subordinates, who quickly sought to take over as the new head of the Traditionalists: this led to a Traditionalist civil war known as the Wars of the Strirgon Succession which lasted until 1390 CE, ultimately resulting in Clan Urdnot under Urdnot Jarrod emerging as the victor, assuming direct control over the Traditionalist faction and also subsuming much of the former Strirgon lands, with the rest given to Clan Morot, a minor Traditionalist clan and client to Urdnot. With Jarrod at the helm, the Traditionalists only became more aggressive, launching fresh offensives in an effort to bring an end to the wars once and for all. As the wars continued to drag on, the Traditionalists were forced to switch between defensive and offensive strategies, having to deal with internal issues and threats from other sources. During this time, Urdnot Wrex, Jarrod's son, led numerous Traditionalist armies in both the Final War of Togg and the War of the Blasphemer, the latter saw Traditionalists and Reformists join forces to defeat Tigar the Blasphemer: during this time, Wrex was brought over to the Reformist way of thinking, and when his attempts to convince his father to switch sides failed, it started an Urdnot civil war, one which resulted in Jarrod's death and Wrex's self-exile: Urdnot Wreav, Wrex's blood brother, took over and declared Urdnot's neutrality in the civil wars, effectively giving up leadership over the Traditionalists and leaving the faction altogether, declaring for neither side. The loss of Urdnot's manpower proved a turning point in the conflict, as it placed the Traditionalists on more even footing with the Reformists, with leadership over the Traditionalists transitioning to Clan Weyrloc with little to no trouble, with Weyrloc Guld as leader. Regardless, the civil wars continued, and the Traditionalists would continue to remain a powerful force on Tuchanka, despite the loss of its most powerful clans.

2183 CE marked the beginning of the end for the Traditionalists with the return of Urdnot Wrex from exile. A war hero from the Eden Prime War and inspired by Commander Shepard's plan to prepare for the Reapers, Wrex returned and swiftly retook control of Clan Urdnot from his brother, Wreav. Quickly, he summoned a meeting of Reformist leadership at the Hollows, where he not only declared his intent for Urdnot to join them, but that they would be the new head of the Reformists with Wrex as leader, with the goal of finally bringing the Traditionalists to heel and uniting all of Tuchanka under one banner. Combined with Wrex's new policy, his final war against the Traditionalists was ruthless and thorough, targeting any and all clans aligned with the Traditionalists and giving them a choice: join them and forge a new future for the krogan, or be crushed and their history scattered to the winds. Many Traditionalist clans turned, one of them being a founding clan of the Imperialists, Clan Gatatog, although this later turned out to be a ploy by the Traditionalists to insert spies into Urdnot's camp in preparation for assassinating Wrex, a ploy which was discovered in 2185 CE when Gatatog Uvenk tried and failed to manipulate Grunt into joining his clan in return for betraying Wrex, with Grunt and the Normandy Squad killing Uvenk and his men and, upon finding out, Wrex had Clan Gatatog wiped from the map, making good on his promise to be ruthless and merciless to those who dared to sabotage the krogan's future. Not long after, upon discovering that Clan Weyrloc had abducted a salarian scientist (later found to be voluntary) to develop a cure for the genophage, Wrex marshalled an army and assaulted the hospital where the experiments were being performed, with Guld himself killed in the process along with most of his warriors: with Weyrloc weakened from the defeat, Wrex seized the opporunity to wipe out the rest of Weyrloc, razing their keep and dealing the Traditionalists a final, decisive blow. With Gatatog and Weyrloc wiped out, the Traditionalists fell into civil war once more, a move which only made them weaker when the UKC mopped up the remnants and subsumed what was left. The Traditionalist remnants, beaten and broken, still refused to fully surrender, retreating into the Uemrek region in the hopes of mounting a final last stand, one which would deal the UKC devastating losses, a final bitter blow against their enemy. Wrex didn't buy into it however, and after a devastating artillery barrage, followed by thresher maws being summoned to wreak havoc on the Traditionalist garrisons, the UKC moved in and finished them off. With the fall of Uemrek, the remaining Traditionalist leadership were summoned to Urdnot Keep to sign the Urdnot Pact, bringing an end to the Krogan Civil Wars and officially dissolving the Traditionalist faction, with their remaining clan members joining the UKC and completing Wrex's dream of a unified Tuchanka.
