The Torrent assault rifle was a fully automatic heat sink-based block-fed assault rifle manufactured by Jormangund Technologies. Manufactured and entering service in 2181 CE, the Torrent assault rifle was a state-of-the-art, high quality precision assault rifle designed for use by mercenary contractors and military forces: while publicly available, the weapon was very expensive, keeping it outside the ballpark of all but the most determined gun collectors and fanatics. Integrating an advanced heat bleed system and decent recoil dampening, the Torrent assault rifle sacrificed peak accuracy and damage output for a consistent rate of fire and minimal bullet spread, allowing for more bullets to hit a target at full auto than other conventional rifles would be able to pull off. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-15 Vindicator following the introduction of thermal clips in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. No direct successor to the Torrent exists, with Jormangund being absorbed by Elanus Threat Management Solutions sometime in 2185 CE.
