- "The asari homeworld has been called many things. The crown jewel of the galaxy. The apex of democracy. The beating heart of galactic love. Mostly, however, its just known as the place where all the blue beauties originate."
- — Cerberus operative.
Thessia is the second planet in the Parnitha system of the Athena Nebula, and is the homeworld of the asari species. Being the capital of the Asari Republics, and arguably the source from which galactic democracy flows, Thessia was once described as the epicenter of liberty, art and culture. It was also the richest deposit of element zero in the galaxy, having such a high concentration as to have caused the asari to evolve as natural biotics. Located almost at the core of Council space, Thessia was both an example of asari technological, cultural and political superiority.
Thessia is now nothing more than a radioactive wasteland. After the Thessian Fallout during the Post-Apocalyptic War, much of the planet was nuked, the nuclear wildfires and winters so intense that cities were reduced to nothing, oceans boiled up and evaporated, and much of the eco system was annihilated. Combining with the effects of the element zero rich core of the planet, the nuclear detonations have caused intense, global earthquakes, which have caused much of the tectonic plates to split. As such, the former beauty of the asari homeworld is no more, and the planet is now shut off to all civilian traffic. The Galactic Dominion mined it for its rich element zero deposits during the Terra-Rannochian War and Dominion Civil War, but was later sealed off completely and labelled a grave site by the OFFPRO.
