Theseus is a star system in the Attican Beta cluster. In the asari cycle, the system was first populated by the Batarian People's Republic during its 14th century expansions into the Attican Traverse, therefore making its occupation of Attican Beta illegal under interstellar law. The batarians invested heavily in utilizing the Attican Beta as a military staging base for what it viewed as inevitable war with its quarian neighbours, establishing fleetyards around Sharring and fortress near Logan at the edge of the system. Towards the end of the Quarian-Batarian War, a small quarian fleet clashed with the batarian forces over Logan due to poor intel on both sides leading the quarians to believe the batarian force was weaker than initially believed. Despite the odds, the quarian fleet managed to destroy many of the batarian facilities and damage dozens of vessels before being forced to withdraw, with batarian forces harassing them every step of the way. The smaller quarian fleet was eventually overwhelmed, but not before a larger fleet arrived and smashed the remaining batarian forces, bringing an end to the week long battle. The rest of the system fell in short order to the quarians, who occupied the system until the end of the war, where they later withdrew to quarian space per the terms of the Treaty of Pragia.

The system remained unoccupied until the late 2170s, when the Systems Alliance arrived and colonized Feros. It was subject to an invasion by geth heretic forces in the Eden Prime War, who laid siege to Feros briefly in late June. It fell to the Reapers in the Reaper War after the Fall of Earth in 2186 CE, and transferred to the control of the Systems Coalition after the Alliance's dissolution in 2191 CE. Since the brief Covenant-Dominion battle over Feros, and the Dominion's suppression of an uprising on Feros in December 2252 CE, the system has been left untouched by conflict.

The system is named after the Greek mythological figure of Theseus, known as the legendary king and hero-founder of Athens.
