The Teestez Yu Nebula is a cluster located near the western edge of the Attican Traverse, along the eastern rim of the Milky Way Galactic Core. In 1817 BCE, the Y;vak system went supernova, shrouding the cluster's main relay in hot dust and radiation that made it nearly impossible to find, leaving the cluster inaccessible until 193 BCE when the First Rachni Collective traversed into the cluster via FTL, and beginning to colonize the many systems of the cluster, where they eventually rediscovered the relay. This fact made the Teestez Yu Nebula extremely difficult to pacify during the Fourth Rachni War, with krogan forces having to wage a slow and grueling campaign through the cluster system by system, while the rachni could pour in reinforcements with impunity thanks to their exclusive knowledge of the relay's location: this didn't save them in the end, and while it took two years, the krogan finally secured the cluster, although they never found the relay, and thus were forced to abandon it after the war, deeming it strategically indefensible.

The Teestez Yu Nebula would't be traversed again until 2183 CE, when knowledge from the last rachni queen allowed Marcus L. Shepard and the crew of the SSV Normandy to find the Mu relay, which was the only relay capable of directly accessing the Refuge system of the Pangaea Expanse. After that, the Mu relay's location became widely circulated around the galaxy, but the difficulty in pinpointing its exact location made it dangerous for larger vessels to navigate their way to it, negating the significance of the discovery. Before the Dominion Civil War, the Republic of Rannoch effectively held sovereignty over it, even if they never intended to do anything with it, but after the war, following the ratification of the Virmire Accords, the Second Rachni Collective laid claim to the former territory, noting its lack of use to non-rachni. The rachni have colonized the cluster ever since, and managed to tow the Mu relay to the neighbouring C;pok, allowing traffic into the cluster to be streamlined once more.
