The Systems Alliance Army (SAA), also referred to as the Alliance Army and the Human Army to aliens, was the land service branch of the Systems Alliance Armed Forces, and one of the four uniformed services of the Systems Alliance. The Army was established in October 2149 CE, a month after the Navy was formed, making it the second of the four branches of the Alliance military to be activated following the ratification of the Systems Alliance Charter and the birth of the Alliance itself. The Army was intended to be the primary terrestrial branch of the Alliance military, and would remain the largest even after the formation of the Systems Alliance Marine Corps in 2151 CE, which largely only served as the terrestrial strike arm of the Navy, with the Army remaining as the largest land force, while the marines were kept as a reserve force of quick reaction infantry. It wasn't until the First Contact War that the Marine Corps grew in prominence, and while the Army would remain as the largest branch by far, it instead became largely focused on protecting the Alliance's borders and maintaining internal security, while the Marine Corps was utilized beyond Alliance borders. During wartime, the Alliance Army became a far more common sight, working in tandem with the Marine Corps as the Alliance's terrestrial offensive arm against her enemies. The Army's objectives during wartime was to secure land dominance with support from the other branches, and it came equipped with the manpower, resources and technology to do so, being one of the most well equipped branches of the entire Alliance military in order to support the size of its operative scope. While certainly not as famous as its Marine Corps sister-branch, the Army was just as powerful, if not more so.

The Alliance Army saw extensive action during the First Contact War and Reaper War, but had a minimal presence in the Skyllian Blitz and Eden Prime War due to the brief nature of those conflicts. The Army was drastically reduced in strength after the Reaper War, with a substantial number of its forces committed to the final offensive in London, in conjunction with its allies. With the dissolution of the Alliance in 2191 CE, the Alliance Army was reorganized into the Systems Coalition Army.
