The Striker sniper rifle was a bolt-action heat sink-based block-fed sniper rifle manufactured by Devlon Industries. Manufactured and entering service in 2161 CE, the Striker sniper rifle was designed for use by the Systems Alliance Armed Forces and for civilian use, where it found use among numerous interstellar militaries, PMCs and security corporations, with the weapon particularly favoured by the UNAS and SAU militaries. The weapon had excellent recoil dampening, eliminating the need for a stabilization mount, and its high stopping power meant it was lethal over a variable distance, although this came at the sacrifice of having average accuracy and weak heat mitigation. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-97 Viper following the introduction of the thermal clip in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. The M-92 Mantis and M-97 Viper would also replace the Striker in use with the Alliance, UNAS and SAU militaries.

The M-92 Mantis is a direct successor to the Striker, designed and built in the wake of the introduction of the thermal clip in 2184 CE and the revolution in gun design that followed it, with Devlon wishing to bring the Striker into the modern day. Oddly enough, the design of the M-92 Mantis differed from its predecessor, with the original Striker's design being used for the M-97 Viper, while the new M-92 design more closely resembled the design pattern used by the Hammer sniper rifle. The M-92 Mantis ultimately surpassed the Striker, becoming one of the most common sniper rifles in the galaxy, renowned for its stopping power, long-range capabilities and high reliability.
