The Stinger pistol was a semi-automatic heat sink-based block-fed heavy pistol manufactured by Devlon Industries. Manufactured and entering service in 2161 CE, the Stinger pistol was developed for use by the Systems Alliance Armed Forces and for civilian use, where it found use among numerous interstellar militaries, PMCs and security corporations, with the weapon being favoured by the asari military. Capable of roughly two shots per second with limited accuracy but reasonable recoil, the Stinger pistol was considered a good, balanced pistol for its asking price. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-6 Carnifex following the introduction of the thermal clip in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. No direct successor to the Stinger exists, as Devlon shifted solely to the manufacture of armor and the M-92 Mantis, their premiere snipe rifle. The M-3 Predator has supplanted the Stinger throughout the Alliance, and it was entirely replaced by the asari's homegrown AR-49 Acolyte within their own military.
