The Scimitar shotgun was a pump-action heat sink-based block-fed shotgun manufactured by Elkoss Combine. Manufactured and entering service in 2172 CE, the Scimitar shotgun became one of the most commonplace shotguns in the galaxy, initially even considered for service within the Systems Alliance Armed Forces before they eventually landed on the Katana and Storm shotguns. The weapon had fairly average stats, with moderate accuracy, decent firepower and poor recoil dampening, and the weapon was prone to overheat quickly. The M-27 Scimitar is a direct successor to the Scimitar, designed and built in the wake of the introduction of the thermal clip in 2184 CE and the revolution in gun design that followed it, although this successor was ultimately built by Ariake Technologies instead of Elkoss Combine. Oddly enough, the design of the M-27 Scimitar differed from its predecessor, with the original Scimitar's design being used for the M-23 Katana, while the new M-27 design more closely resembled the design pattern used by the Katana shotgun.
