The Savage shotgun was a semi-automatic heat sink-based block-fed assault shotgun manufactured by Jormangund Technologies. Manufactured and entering service in 2179 CE, the Savage shotgun was a state-of-the-art, high quality, high-impact assault shotgun designed for use by mercenary contractors and military forces: while publicly available, the weapon was very expensive, keeping it outside the ballpark of all but the most determined gun collectors and fanatics. Integrating an advanced heat bleed system and decent recoil dampening, the Savage shotgun blended peak accuracy with sheer damage output and rate of fire, being capable of semi-automatic fire and firing high-speed fleches at a rapid pace. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-27 Scimitar following the introduction of thermal clips in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. No direct successor to the Savage exists, with Jormangund being absorbed by Elanus Threat Management Solutions sometime in 2185 CE.
