Sanctum space was an historical region of the Milky Way Galaxy that consisted of the member systems and states of the Galactic Sanctum. It encompassed the combined territories of the Alpha Republic, Raloi Federation and the expatriated peoples of the former New Council. Sanctum space was divided into two sections, existing on both sides of far eastern Covenant space, with a narrow line of passage agreed upon between the Titan Covenant and the Galactic Sanctum known as the Alpha-Titan Accord that allowed the Sanctum express passage between the two regions, allowing them to link up, although the Covenant would commonly take advantage of this gap to impose random inspections on Sanctum shipping and civilian traffic. Sanctum space was the smallest of the three superpowers that dominated the galaxy during the Dominion Era, but was also the least war torn, enjoying near total peace and prosperity during this period. Even as the Dominion Civil War broke out, Sanctum space only saw the war reach its doorstep towards the end when Dominion loyalist forces looking to launch a surprise attack on the Titan Covenant violated the Treaty of Turvess by going through Sanctum space, leading to a handful of battles between Sanctum and Dominion forces, and eventually the Sanctum's late (and uneventful) entry into the civil war on the DDF's side. After 2254 CE when the Sanctum signed the Virmire Accords, Sanctum space was formally dissolved and reorganized into the Greater Terminus region as per the Milky Way Partition Agreement.
