SSV William Wallace CDS-12 (Carry and Deploy/Super-12) was a Charles de Gaulle-class supercarrier in the Alliance Navy. The twelfth ship of her class to be built, the William Wallace was assigned to the Sixth Fleet under Admiral Osamu Nakamura not long after it was commissioned in early 2176 CE. The William Wallace was the twelfth of the initial sixteen Charles de Gaulle-class ships that were ordered and built for the Alliance Navy, being commissioned, completing its shakedown run and assigned to the Sixth Fleet all within the same year as the outbreak of the Skyllian Blitz in late December. The William Wallace would be present with its sister ship, the Winston Churchill, at the Battle of the Dhelile System, where its presence alongside those of the two supercarriers of the Second Fleet would prove instrumental in the Alliance's victory in the battle, once again cementing the effectiveness of carriers in space combat as they easily overcame the batarian fleet guarding the sector, forcing them into retreat before they could be overwhelmed. Following the Blitz, the William Wallace would be assigned a patrol group to constantly guard the Exodus cluster to guard against slaver attacks, as Terra Nova and Eden Prime, humanity's most prosperous colonies, would be particularly tempting targets. The William Wallace saw no action during the Eden Prime War, although it was one of the first ships to be made aware of the situation on X57. Following the incident in the Uifa'ar Nebula that took the Winston Churchill out of service for a bit in 2184 CE, it was proposed that the ships be swapped out, but in the end the Churchill returned to the area instead so as to not show weakness to the batarians, and the William Wallace remained where it was.

The William Wallace and its escorts were the first ships to assemble in the Asgard system on 2 June 2186 CE when the entire Sixth Fleet was ordered to assemble over Terra Nova in response to what was believed to be a batarian invasion. Once the fleet received word from Admiral Hackett across emergency channels about the disastrous defeats at Arcturus and Luna, and that Earth had fallen, Osamu Nakamura was ordered to immediately commence evacuations of Terra Nova, as it was likely the Reapers would hit it next. The William Wallace and its sister ship were the key to this evacuation effort, as the gargantuan warship had room for thousands of passengers: to speed up the evacuation, gunships and bombers were stripped of their armaments and used in addition to shuttles, which greatly sped up the evacuation, and the number of evacuees. Despite this, the Sixth Fleet was only able to evacuate 400,000 of a 4.15 million population by the time a small Reaper force arrived in the system three days later on 5 June. Nakamura was warned against directly engaging the Reaper forces, with lessons learnt of the futility of a defensive posture against such a foe learnt all too well at Arcturus and Luna. As such, the William Wallace was ordered not to participate in the Battle of Terra Nova, and instead briefly continued evacuations until the Reapers reached the planet, at which time it finally disengaged and left the system. The William Wallace arrived at the Citadel a day later, dropping the human refugees it had saved and then being redeployed to assist with Operation Hornet's Nest two weeks later where, during a sub-operation, it would return to Terra Nova to evacuate more civilians while a larger contingent of the Sixth Fleet deployed marine forces to destroy a Reaper conversion camp, distracting them: the operation was a failure, but allowed the William Wallace to extract 4,000 more civilians before it had to retreat. The ship was deployed with many other Alliance assets to assist with the Evacuation of Thessia, and afterwards took part in Operation Defiant, and finally at the final battle over Earth, where it survived both. The ship survived transition into the Systems Coalition, and would take part in the Border War and Post-Apocalyptic War. It was finally retired in 2231 CE, along with the rest of the Charles de Gaulle-line.

The ship was named after Sir William Wallace, a 13th to early 14th Century Scottish knight who led Scottish forces during the First War of Scottish Independence, and famously won a battle against a numerically superior English army at the Battle of Stirling Bridge.
