SSV Seoul AS-51 (Attack/Support-51) was a Saratoga-class light cruiser in the Alliance Navy. The fifty-first ship of her class to be built, the Seoul was one of many Saratoga-class ships that had been planned and had her registry approved for listing under the Alliance Naval Index, but was not built before the First Contact War broke out. The Seoul had only just begun construction when the massacre at Relay 314 occurred, with only her keel laid down: by the time the war ended, the ship was virtually complete, only requiring a paint job and a shakedown run. The Seoul entered service in mid 2158 CE, with its launch being slightly delayed by the complete refit that all ships across the Alliance Navy underwent, and once it was commissioned, it was assigned to the Fifth Fleet under Admiral Steven Hackett following its establishment after the war. The Seoul would participate in the Skyllian Blitz, taking part in the Battle of the Dhopris System, where it and six other cruisers exchanged fire with a wolfpack of three batarian battlecruisers until the batarian ships were ordered to retreat: in that time, the Seoul suffered significant damage due to the superior firepower of the batarian ships, and was removed from Operation Samson's Pillars to undergo repairs, reentering service shortly after the Theshaca Raids.

In 2183 CE, after the outbreak of the Eden Prime War, the Seoul would be present at the Battle of Armstrong, where it protected the SSV McKinley from enemy fire. The Seoul then returned with the rest of the Fifth Fleet to Mars where the ship's crew would enjoy temporary shore leave. When Hackett distibuted his emergency orders for the Fifth Fleet to mobilize, the Seoul responded the quickest, as the crew had been forced to call off their shore leave after the captain and his officers started a fight with Terra Firma members who were apparently bad mouthing Commander Shepard. Hackett put the charges against the captain and his officers on hold and restored them to their command, not wanting to waste time on personnel reallocation when he needed to move quickly. The Seoul was part of the first wave of Alliance reinforcements at the Battle of the Citadel, where it helped save the ARW Destiny Ascension from the geth heretic fleet. The Seoul was one of many ships destroyed by Sovereign towards the end of the battle, being lost with all hands due to the ferocity of the Reaper's devastating defenses. The sacrifice of the Seoul and her crew is noted on the Heroes of the Citadel monument, along with other ships of the Fifth Fleet that were destroyed saving the Citadel. The assault charges against the captain and his officers were posthumously dropped, citing their honorable conduct and sacrifice during the battle.

The ship was named after the city of Seoul in the former United Republics of Asian Nations on Earth.
