- "This one understands vengeance and violence as much as you do. This one is polite, not meek."
- — Butler.
Righteous-Display-of-Perseverance (Face Name: Butler) was a former logistics officer for the Starfish, an information broker and a member of Archangel's Omega Squad. Born on Rough Tide, Butler would attend the University of the Encompassing on Kahje, a university exclusive to hanar and of high distinction, to study religion and military history and, after completing both courses, would join the Starfish as a logistics and supply chain officer. Specializing in managing supply chains, working out logistical issues and sorting out cell-to-cell requirements, Butler was very good at his job, and it was in this role that Butler ultimately earned the face name "Butler", which he took with pride. Butler would bounce through numerous postings, from the hanar homeworld of Kahje to the Citadel and even to his homeworld of Rough Tide, where he was tasked with supplying Starfish and Amonkira's Eyes officers as they monitored krogan and vorcha dissidents in 2177 CE following a series of race riots. Despite Butler's extensive service record, his career came to an end with the election of the then-newest Illuminated First Emissary, Elated-at-the-Sight-of-Salvation, in 2180 CE, who made sweeping government reforms, first of which was to reorganize the leadership of the Starfish to pad out their ranks with people of like mind. Butler had voted against the First Emissary, having collated information that he was corrupt and engaging in practices that are considered heretical in hanar society. This made him a target, and the new leadership of Starfish cleaned house, removing what they called "troublesome elements", and Butler was one of many agents who were laid off. While this First Emissary would ultimately be forced to abdicate for the very crimes Butler knew he was guilty of only a year later after a scandal involving his asari mistress, Butler did not return to the Starfish, and instead opened up an information broker business in the Terminus Systems in 2183 CE, operating out of Omega as he sold his services to willing clients.
Butler became very rich as a result of his new clientele, but his business was disrupted later that same year by the emergence of the vigilante Archangel and his squad, who brought an overall disruption to the station's day-to-day operations in general as their war against crime left no one feeling safe. Seeing the potential to profit from the situation and help a cause he saw as just, Butler offered his services to Archangel's team, and for a while, he sold information to Archangel's team that helped them in hitting the syndicates of the station wholesale. The Eclipse caught onto this eventually however and raided Butler's store, but he had already packed up and left, knowing his time was up. With nowhere else to go and his riches dried up, Butler approached Archangel to join his team: given his usefulness as an asset already, Archangel gladly accepted. For the rest of the conflict, Butler served as the team's primary logistics and supply chain manager, making sure the team were constantly stocked with food, ammo and water, and managing all maintenance costs and offshore accounts used by the team to fund their operations, making sure their money was clean and uncompromised. With help from Caity Monteague, Butler would achieve a modicum of weapons training, but for the most part was a non-combatant, much more valuable managing supplies than on the battlefield. When the team became divided on whether to continue their war or call it quits and cash in, Butler initially sided with the former, but was persuaded to continue, knowing he really had nowhere else to go and nothing else going on in his life. Both him and Kaklu Dreon would trade stories from their respective lives, as Kaklu had served in the Amonkira's Eyes, the Starfish's drell equivalent.
In July 2185 CE, Butler was in the team's headquarters of the Suri-Kara Hotel with the rest of the team (except for Garrus and Sidonis, the former of which was investigating a lead and the latter doing a supply run) opening up another account to store more of their funds for the team's next operation when the Blue Suns and Blood Pack launched a surprise raid on their base, having captured and tortured Sidonis into giving up his team and leading Garrus away on a false lead as bait. Butler was killed in the initial bombardment of the base that opened up the attack, his body torn to shreds by numerous grenade detonations in his vicinity. Upon returning to the hideout to find his dead squad, Garrus gathered Butler's body along with the rest into body bags, lining them up in their living quarters to keep them outside the carnage of the Kima Siege. Garrus was unable to recover Butler's body after he was extracted by the Normandy Squad, but later scratched Butler's name, along with the names of the rest of his squad, into his eyepiece in an effort to remember them.
