The Reaper sniper rifle was a bolt-action heat sink-based block-fed sniper rifle manufactured by Elkoss Combine. Manufactured and entering service in 2165 CE, the Reaper sniper rifle was met with mixed success, with many praising its firepower, heat mitigation systems and recoil dampening, but criticizing its pitiful accuracy over longer ranges, negating its capabilities as a sniper rifle. Mostly finding use amongst PMCs, the weapon would see a limited service life amongst C-Sec's tactical teams, where they were able to modify the weapon for use in their sniper teams. Garrus Vakarian would ultimately make his own variant of the weapon through tinkering, sacrificing the weapon's excellent recoil dampening to squeeze more accuracy out of it, mounting a stabilization tripod on the weapon and modding it to use armor piercing rounds. This variant, known as the Reaper II, would be heavily used by Garrus during the Eden Prime War to devastating effect, and further modified briefly to use thermal clips following their introduction in 2184 CE, until finally he replaced it with a M-97 Viper. No direct successor to the Reaper exists, with Elkoss shifting to the manufacture of armors and their M-8 Avenger and M-4 Shuriken weapon models.
