"The frontline wrecking balls...I don't know about you, but I'm sure glad we were stuck with sabertooth cats when these guys roamed the galaxy."
— Alliance serviceman.

The Soldier is the main subspecies of the rachni, and therefore the most commonly seen. Quite large, fully grown soldiers can stand as tall as a six foot human, and are covered in layers of red chitin that serve as natural body armor. They are extremely fast for a creature of their size, and their pincers allow them to rip normal organics apart. Serving as frontline soldiers, soldiers can be dangerous in close combat, especially when in large numbers. Rachni soldiers have proved to be vicious opponents during the Rachni Wars and were once feared creatures, but have now earned nothing but galactic respect due to their invaluable performance during the Reaper War, helping UGC forces match the overwhelming numbers of Reaper ground troops toe for toe. After the war, soldiers serve as the Second Rachni Collective's unofficial military force, with the rachni preferring a life of seclusion and peace. They would not see combat again for another 600 years, until they were called upon by the UREBMI military to aid the AICA when they called for assistance against the invading Precursors.
