The Python sniper rifle was a semi-automatic heat sink-based block-fed sniper rifle manufactured by Hahne-Kedar Shadow Works. Manufactured and entering service in 2175 CE, the Python sniper rifle was designed for use by the Systems Alliance Armed Forces, namely their top special forces units. While the weapon's accuracy was decent, the weapon's high penetration and semi-auto fire rate meant it could place enough fire down range to cancel out its drawbacks, and the weapon's excellent recoil dampening meant it could be picked up and used on the move. The weapon excelled during the Skyllian Blitz where special forces units used it during surgical strikes and support operations to maximum effect. Largely used by the Black Jackals, Crimson Vampires, N7 and Blue Falcons, the Python sniper rifle was considered the special forces sniper rifle of the entire Alliance military, utilized only by the best operatives. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-92 Mantis following the introduction of thermal clips in 2184 CE, which replaced block-fed weapons wholesale across the entire galaxy following the Battle of the Citadel. After this transition, the Python was replaced by the N7 Valiant in service with Alliance special forces units.
