The Punisher sniper rifle was a bolt-action heat sink-based block-fed sniper rifle manufactured by Armax Arsenal. Manufactured and entering service in 2139 CE, the Punisher sniper rifle was meant for use by the Hierarchy Armed Forces, primarily the Army of Palaven and Marine Corps of Palaven, due to its high damage output, armor piercing capabilities, high accuracy and recoil mitigation. The Punisher was capable of firing a single round every two seconds with a high degree of accuracy and damage, serving all the way up until the replacement of block-fed weapons with thermal clips in 2184 CE. Serving alongside the Hierarchy's staple Krysae XIV rather than replacing it, the Punisher was seen as a more lightweight, anti-personnel alternative to the Krysae which, while lethal against infantry, was best served in an anti-armor role as a virtue of it being an anti-materiel rifle. The Punisher could punch through most medium armors, and could be equipped with armor piercing rounds for even more devastating effect, even on lightly armoured vehicles. The weapon was, in design, succeeded by the M-97 Viper, while it was functionally replaced by the Krysae XV in the turian military.
