The Polaris omni-tool, also simply known as Polaris, was an omni-tool model manufactured by Kassa Fabrication. Manufactured and entering service in 2168 CE, the Polaris was a mid-range engineer/machinist grade omni-tool meant for use by engineers, machinists and mechanics. Serving as a market competitor to the asari-made Nexus, the Polaris mostly hit upon the same design philosophy of the Nexus, but with slightly weaker specs in order to fit a lower price bracket, making it more affordable than the Nexus for slightly lesser quality. While the Polaris never effectively undercut the Nexus, it enjoyed widespread popularity in the Terminus Systems and within the Systems Alliance itself, with the omni-tool even being used by Cerberus in conjunction with the Savant. While the Polaris was primarily an engineer's omni-tool, it still possessed the abilities of a standard omni-tool, including extranet connection, application integration and optimization, and communication. Support for the omni-tool would continue until 2199 CE, with manufacture of the omni-tool discontinuing in the same year as Kassa released its successor, the Fusion.
