The Phoenix light combat armor was a ceramic-based protective light combat armor manufactured by Sirta Foundation. Manufactured and entering service in 2170 CE, the Phoenix armor was contracted to be used as an auxiliary armor to the HYPERION-82 system, used largely by the Systems Alliance Colonial Army but also by the Systems Alliance Marine Corps when logistics supply chains meant that HYPERION-82 systems were not available on short notice. Despite this earning a reputation as the Alliance's "beggar armor", the Phoenix armor incorporated a built-in medi-gel auto-deployment module, allowing medi-gel to be automatically applied to any wound via the armor's interface: as medi-gel was still a then-recent invention of the Sirta Foundation, this made the Phoenix armor the first introduction of this system, which would later be applied to the HYPERION-82. Being light armor, it had low damage protection and was outfitted with somewhat weak kinetic barriers, but was extremely flexible and lightweight. The Phoenix armor was finally phased out by 2184 CE, having been fully replaced by the HYPERION-82, and its auto-deployment feature integrated across all HYPERION armor systems, making the Phoenix redundant.
