The Palace of Eden, also known as Alpha Capitol, is a structure located within the Spire of the New Federation and was the seat of the Parliament of Alpha, and currently the seat of the Alpha Directorate. Located at the base of the Spire and being one of the first parts of the massive tower to be built and completed by early 2222 CE, the Palace of Eden is eight floors tall, making it by far the largest chamber within the entire Spire. Connected to the entrance via the Commons Hall and accessible via an elevator, the building can seat 700 parliamentarians in a rectangular-shaped chamber, with a central podium located towards the front on an elevated platform for use by the Prime Minister of the Sanctum or President of Alpha: the first five stories are reserved for use by parliament members, while the other three are used by members of the public who may wish to sit in and observe government proceedings. The entire far wall of the chamber is a mural depicting Alpha and Turvess coming together to find common cause, with a giant hand in the middle grasping the insignia of the Galactic Sanctum in its grasp. While officially known as the "Alpha Capitol", the building's more common name, the "Palace of Eden" was coined by a parliamentarian in reference to the large, ornamental design of the interior, with the walls lined with statues and a giant mural taking front stage on the building, complimented further by holographic flags of the Sanctum, Alpha Republic (and later the Federation of Alpha) and the Raloi Federation lining the walls on all sides. Security within was tight, with numerous escape hatches for quick evacuation and a dedicated division of the Spire's security forces guarding and patrolling it at all times, both during operation and when it was closed and not being used.
Throughout the entire history of the Palace of Eden, even after the transition of the Alpha Republic into the Federation of Alpha, and the dissolution of the Galactic Sanctum, only one major attack was carried out on it on 11 June 2252 CE when members of the Covenant Sentries of Reverence organization detonated seven bombs across the Spire, with one bomb detonated in the Palace of Eden that ended up killing 36 parliamentarians and injuring 18, with the bomb placed close to the forward podium in the hopes of catching Sata T'Loak in the blast as well, although this would ultimately be unsuccessful. Damage to the Palace of Eden however was repaired in one month and it resumed normal operations by October of that year. Since then the Palace of Eden is now the seat of the Alpha Directorate, and remains as such to this day. Very few changes were made in the wake of the Alpha Republic and Sanctum's dissolution, with only the Sanctum flags removed and replaced with those of the UGR: even the Sanctum insignia grasped inbetween the fingers of a hand on the front mural was left unchanged, representing an important part of Alpha's history.
