Position Defunct
(last incumbent was Bantoria Victus (officially), Kasumi Goto (unofficially))

The Metarch of the Hierarchy, also known as the Turian MetarchMetarch of Palaven or simply the Metarch, was the sovereign head of state and female head of the government of the Turian Hierarchy. As metarch, they acted as the central leader, alongside the Primarch, of the entirety of the Turian Hierarchy, and were advised by the hierarchs. Given their almost absolute power, the metarch was the most powerful woman in the Hierarchy. Unlike the succession to primarch, the succession to metarch was solely based on who was the wife of the Primarch. The wife of the primarch at the time of his coronation became the metarch; if he had no wife, then there was no metarch.

The last metarch of the Hierarchy, officially, was Bantoria Victus, who fought beside her husband during his last stand of the Post-Apocalyptic War at the Fall of Palaven. While Kasumi Goto was the wife of Garrus Vakarian, the last primarch of Palaven, and therefore technically the metarch, no coronation ceremony was held for her appointment to the position and thus, she is not considered, historically, to be the last metarch of Palaven.
